How to buy a used RV in Horry County
Sep 9, 2026 · Private-party, Myrtle Beach and Hwy 17 — not a national lot.
A Grand Strand private sale is usually a driveway, a storage lot, or a campground pad. That is an advantage if you live here. It is a problem if the “buyer” wants to ship it to another state without seeing it. Start with a coach on our live listings, then do the paperwork locally.
1. See it in person
Walk the roof, slides, underbelly, and title. For a motorhome, budget a chassis inspection and oil review — travel trailers do not get engine oil. Use the shops on our motorhome oil and inspection list. House systems (A/C, leaks) are a different call: the mobile techs on the same page.
2. Title and bill of sale
South Carolina private-party vehicle sales run through a signed title. Ask to see the title in the seller’s name, matching VIN on the coach. A simple bill of sale with price, date, both names, and VIN helps both of you. Confirm current steps with SC DMV — we are a marketplace, not a tag office. If the coach sits in Brunswick County or Wilmington, you may be in North Carolina rules instead.
3. How you contact the seller here
Listing pages do not publish the seller’s email. Use the contact form. We filter common wire / escrow / shipping-agent pitches. Read the full payment safety guide before you send a deposit.
4. After you buy
HOA neighborhoods on the Strand almost never allow a camper in the driveway. Plan storage or a long-term site. If it has to move and you do not own a truck, get a quote from Sell & Tow.
